Larissa von Planta creates sustainable artisanal couture using antique and found textiles in the belief that existing fabrics and textiles can be transformed to create lasting, modern pieces that challenge the pace of the current destructive fashion industry.
The resulting designs balance intricate femininity with strong silhouettes. Through up-cycling and traditional craftsmanship she creates socially conscious garments in an unwavering quest to gradually build a fully sustainable fashion house which puts the emphasis on craft, integrity and innovation through design to revolutionise the idea of luxury.
At 24, her cultural curiosity has seen her work across a diverse cut of fashion’s fabric. Larissa has learnt fine craft from tailors on London’s Savile Row, costumiers at the Vienna State Opera, natural textile manufacturers in Nepal and embroiderers in India. She has also worked with commercially successful brands in Shanghai, Sao Paulo and Lebanon.
The London-born designer completed her degree in Womenswear at Central Saint Martins in 2016, before moving to Beirut to launch her eponymous atelier.
